Life status update for October 2014

It's been a while since my last post. So, what's been going on for me?

I recently completed a major emergency project for Parjana Distribution where I took over the code left over from a pair of former developers and invested nearly all of my free time into getting it back into working order. I had a lot of fun with it and I was getting paid for all of the extra work I was doing, but it has been exhausting. Hopefully I can step back from that and get a breather. +Kamil Jarosz is now working there as well, and he's been very productive on developing our ERP system further. So, things there should be going pretty good now.

+sahana thanabalan and I are just starting to get work from Ford for my internship through LTU, so we can begin doing things for Phase 2 of the project there. We should have a couple more graduate students joining us soon, once their employment paperwork is complete. Things are going well there, although we had a slow start.

I survived the midterm exams for my fall semester classes, and did really well on all of them (everything above 90%). No issues academically. My Intro to Bioinformatics professor did give me permission to post my programming assignments code on GitHub, so you can check out Mutation-Detector and NCBI-FASTA-Grabber if you want (both coded in Python and GNU GPLv3-licensed open source); I'll be doing another one soon for sequence alignments using dynamic programming.

I am also collaborating with +Nick Virag and a few other friends on trying to organize LTU's first ever hackathon event. We're still figuring out things like space reservations and sponsors; we're currently thinking it will take place sometime next year if everything goes according to the plans we have so far.

Lastly, on a personal note, I have switched my desktop computer to Ubuntu GNOME 14.04.1 LTS and my personal laptop to Ubuntu Desktop Next 14.10. I also got Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS, and enjoying the new customization options. I've actually started bringing my 3DS with me to school in Sleep Mode, so I can pick up hits in Street Smash while attending classes (apparently LTU has a pretty good SSB3DS community already).

My favorite holiday, Halloween, is coming up, so hopefully I can visit a Halloween store soon to browse all the cool stuff and maybe plan my costume again for this year (hopefully I can pass out candy to trick-or-treaters alongside +Jonathan Horton ). My friend +sahana thanabalan is also organizing a Diwali celebration in LTU's Buell building on Saturday, October 25th at 6:00 PM, and I plan on attending that (I'll see who else can come along).

This is what things are looking like for me currently; I'll see if I can make more posts sooner on some more specific stuff.
